At the last Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, the Franco-German developer unveiled a sunroof van, unprecedented in its range, at Ford Transit Custom. Dubbed the Kelsey, the model will join the Kepler and Jules Verne models in select European markets.
Westfalia drew inspiration from Kepler One and Jules Verne, which were fitted directly to the Volkswagen Transporter and Mercedes Vito/Class V respectively, for the Kelsey model on the 5.34m long Ford Transit Custom (L2H1). In the markets (Germany, England), this innovation, confirmed by four registration seats, is distinguished above all by its sanitary facilities.
Located at the back, this station includes a shower tray (on the floor) and cassette toilets (hidden in a compartment provided for this purpose). A clean water tank of 50 liters and a waste water tank of 57 liters find their place on board as much as possible. Hot water is produced by a 10 liter boiler and heated by a Webasto fuel-fired unit (2,000 W). There are two large drawers in the kitchen unit, which is equipped with a two-burner gas stove working with a 2.75 kg bottle. It is adjacent to a storage column housing a 51 liter refrigerator.
Unlike other versions in the catalogue, Kelsey has two sliding doors (one on each side). The dining area therefore does not have a turn for the bench seat to facilitate exits from the left or right.
But in order not to punish the capacity (up to five people), there is a small sofa behind the driver’s seat. In the evening, the dining area turns into a sleeping area (120 x 190 cm). The bed, which is hidden under the rear-accessible sunroof, has the same dimensions. Two-tone furniture (beige and brown) harmonizes perfectly with the faux cream upholstery of the armchairs. The whole gives a rather luxurious atmosphere of the most pleasant.
