Mustang Shelby GT350 owners are suing Ford to get the brand to recognize an economy build.
appeared in 2015, The Mustang Shelby GT350 packs a 5.2 V8 that develops 526 hp sent to the rear wheels. Ford, in partnership with Shelby, designed this GT350 to beat rivals like the 911 GT3 on the track. Today it has been replaced by the Mustang Mach 1, a less radical and top of the range GT500, but still talking about it. But not necessarily the way Ford intended.
For the most part, Mustang Shelby GT350 owners are completely satisfied with their muscle car. But some, especially in the USA, significantly less. They really want Ford to recognize a design flaw of the first assembled series.
In 2017, they came together collectively and filed a complaint. If you choose your car in the Essential or Technology package, Shelby’s gearbox and differential overheat fast. To protect the mechanics, the car then automatically switches to safety mode. The power and therefore the performance is then greatly reduced.
Improvements made by Ford
That same year, Ford announced it would include cooling options that were previously standard as standard. It was understood during the trial that Ford removed some of the cooling in the lower trims to keep the price downwhile making sure they are still ready for the course.
This last point is discussed by some users who bought it for exactly this use. They show Shelby pulling to safety. after about 15 minutes of use which makes it unusable. Ford states that this security is used to prevent damage to various mechanisms of the vehicle and therefore not covered by the warranty.
A court decision that opens up other possibilities
Again, a federal judge disagrees With the Dearborn builder. declares “Through product placement in the James Bond movies and racing partnerships with the likes of Carroll Shelby, Ford has spent half a century developing an aura of performance and adventure. […] But these plaintiffs, much to Lee Iacocca’s dismay, their cars look more like Pintos Than Mustangs. »
This means:Complaints made in 2017 are now well-founded. As such, they can lead to class action lawsuits in many American states. A lawsuit that Ford is trying to prolong to deter owners!
