In 2019, 62,000 visitors came to Eurexpo for the Lyon Motor Show. Two and a half years later, this event may finally happen again. This is what the car show will look like 7-11 April 2022.
The first innovation will be directly visible, with 25 zero-emission cars on display at the entrance, powered by electricity or hydrogen. “Entry into the show is our DNA,” says Anne-Marie Baezner, director of the Lyon Motor Show.
All brands on the market, new and used
Another important innovation is the opening of the show to the second-hand world. It will be possible to buy a used car on the site, but not to try it. Tests will be reserved for new vehicles.
In the canceled Brussels and Geneva, 100% of the brands on the market, 45 in total, will be represented at this first major world fair of the year. “We will have two new asian manufacturersMG (Chinese) and Aiways (Japanese)”, explains Anne-Marie Baezner.
“Ferrari is preparing something nice for us”
The 2022 car of the year, Kia EV6, will take place at the fair. On the innovation side, Toyota will present the Aygo X, a kind of urban crossover. “Dacia will also present something new,” says the show’s director, who still wants to be a part of the mystery. Perhaps the family vehicle will be the Dacia Jogger.
“There will be two great previews, but we’re slowly breaking things down… Ferrari is preparing something nice for us,” says Anne-Marie Baezner. Indeed, there is no motor show without prestigious cars. Maseratti, Lamborghini and others will be there.
9 Alpine race cars including F1
The most anticipated stance is definitely Alpine’s. And it will meet expectations, assure the organizers. “All Alps will race: a formula 1, an F3, rally, 24 hours of Le Mans, GT4… We will have nine beautiful Alpine race cars. »
Motorsports will be widely represented on an area of 5,000 m2, French Grand Prix. The exhibits will be devoted to the legendary Renault R5, the famous Porsche 911 and the 40th anniversary of the Berliet Foundation.
“Lyon show has become a must”
Visitors will be presented with animations such as e-sports, crazy cars or the pit stop challenge, which involves changing the tires of an F1 car as quickly as possible. There will also be room for soft mobility such as bikes, scooters and even car-sharing.
“The Lyon fair has become a must,” Anne-Marie Baezner reassured, looking forward to welcoming exhibitors and the public at Eurexpo from April 7-11.
Open daily from 10:00 to 20:00 + late opening until 22:00 on Friday, April 8th.
