From June 2022, Mercedes will offer new prices for charging an electric vehicle. Depending on their needs, customers will be able to choose from three offers, including two subscriptions. All will be billed per kWh.
In Europe, the Mercedes me Charge charging network has around 300,000 points or sockets and 850 operators, including the famous European network Ionity, of which the star manufacturer is a shareholder.
From June 2022, Mercedes me Charge will present a new charging system for electric charging adapted to the use of electric vehicle owners. The main feature is a single fixed price, regardless of the operator. If the prices listed below relate to the German market, Mercedes states that they will vary according to the VAT rate in effect in each country. Thus, a German driver charging at a French terminal will pay the locally applicable fare.
Three offers will be presented. The first, called the Mercedes me Charge S, will be aimed at customers who have their own terminal but sometimes have to charge outside. Even on the Ionity network, they will not receive any discounts on their charging rates.
The second offer, Mercedes me Charge M, is a subscription billed at €4.90 per month. It will offer a fixed price: €0.39/kWh, plus €0.06/min versus €0.49/kWh from the 180th minute for AC terminals, plus €0.20 from the 60th minute for fast terminals (DC) /min. As for ionicity, the rate would be €0.49/kWh.
The last offer is Mercedes me Charge L, another monthly subscription worth 17.90 €. It will allow access to preferential rates: €0.33/kWh, plus €0.06 per minute from the 180th minute in public terminals (AC). For fast terminals (DC), the tariff will be 0.39€/kWh, plus 0.20€/min from the 60th minute. Finally, Ionity users will be charged €0.35/kWh.
All charging stations that are part of the Mercedes me Charge network are listed in the Mercedes me app, which provides information on availability and prices. At each charging station, the vehicle is authenticated with the MBUX multimedia system, the Mercedes me Charge card or directly with Plug & Charge technology. Recently implemented in the Ionity network, this allows automatic recognition of the vehicle during charging, without having to insert a subscription card and ID card.
